چکیده

In systems biology, the biochemical pathway provides an essential context for understanding comprehensive experimental data and the systematic workings of a cell [1]. Therefore, the availability of online pathway browsers will facilitate post-genomic research, just as genome browsers have contributed to genomics. Many pathway maps have been provided online as part of public pathway databases [2]; however, most of these maps function as the gateway interface to a specific database, and the comprehensiveness of their represented entities, data mapping capabilities, as well as user interfaces are not always sufficient for generic usage. Therefore, we present a generic web-based pathway browser named the Pathway Projector. Pathway Projector has been updated for the reference pathway map and data mapping system since GIW 2008 [3]. For example, the map for E. coli now contains 1365 genes, 1813 enzymes, and 1572 metabolites. The data mapping system has been extended to allow visualization of time series data as graphs on the map. Pathway Projector is freely available for academic users at http://www.g-language.org/PathwayProjector/.

Zoomable News: Zoom and Animation-Based News Browsing for the Web

With Zoomable News, we attempt to provide a new means of navigating news on the World Wide Web, on existing web browsers using broadly supported, non-proprietary technology. Whereas traditional news sites are navigated by means of scrolling, with changes in level of information abstraction achieved by having users click through to another page, Zoomable News allows dynamic abstraction/ expansio...

Quantum Treemaps and Bubblemaps for a Zoomable Image Browser

This paper describes two algorithms for laying out groups of objects in a 2D space-filling manner. Quantum Treemaps are a variation on existing treemap algorithms that are designed for laying out images or other objects of indivisible (quantum) size. They build on the Ordered Treemap algorithm, but guarantees that every generated rectangle will have a width and height that are an integral multi...

Zoomable user interfaces as a medium for slide show presentations

In this paper, we propose Zoomable User Interfaces as an alternative presentation medium to address several common presentation problems. Zoomable User Interfaces offer new techniques for managing multiple versions of a presentation, providing interactive presentation navigation, and distinguishing levels of detail. These zoomable presentations may also offer several cognitive benefits over the...

The CloudBoard Research Platform: an interactive whiteboard for corporate users

Over one million interactive whiteboards (IWBs) are sold annually worldwide, predominantly for classroom use with few sales for corporate use. Unmet needs for IWB corporate use were investigated and the CloudBoard Research Platform (CBRP) was developed to investigate and test technology for meeting these needs. The CBRP supports audio conferencing with shared remote drawing activity, casual cap...
